Discussion of NJ WQAA and EPA Asset Management standards.
Discussions of tank asset management and maintaining all assets from the water treatment plant, distribution system, water storage tanks, water and wastewater plants, and reservoirs.
Review aspects of the inspection process relating to large water and wastewater assets.
Improving water quality within a distribution system and storage tanks including TTHM removal, active mixing, and residual chlorine control systems.
Instructor:
Nick Rapagnani: Nick serves as a Water System Consultant for Utility Service Group Water Solutions. He is responsible for water and wastewater systems in northern New Jersey and Pennsylvania to help them maintain their system infrastructure, water quality, and enact asset management maintenance programs.

Course Description:
1) Integrating AI and Machine Learning in Modern Water and Wastewater Treatment Systems introduces water/wastewater professionals to practical AI applications across treatment, distribution, collection, stormwater, asset management, and capital planning, with emphasis on data quality, cybersecurity, and human oversight. Built for operators, supervisors, engineers, and utility directors, it covers six modules spanning AI fundamentals, governance, cross-system applications, asset/capital planning, decision support, and building an AI roadmap. Participants leave able to explain core AI/ML concepts, identify practical applications, describe governance and cybersecurity requirements, apply AI to predictive maintenance and capital planning, and pilot a high-value use case at their utility. Instruction is practical and operator-focused, using case studies, discussion, and scenario-based exercises.
2) 1,4-Dioxane, Should be on Every Operator’s Radar: 1,4‑Dioxane is an emerging, highly water‑soluble contaminant increasingly targeted by regulators; operators should be proactive about monitoring, source assessment, and capital planning. This presentation will cover planning, current available treatment options, and review case studies from treatment systems currently in use to guide operators in planning and treating 1,4-Dioxane.
3) Operator Licensing, En-suite and More: This session will offer the latest information on NJDEP operator licensing requirements and procedures, En-suite and some technology updates. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about anything related to exam applications and licensure.

To maintain a healthy and safe work environment, OSHA recommends employees in various industries participate in workplace safety training. OSHA 10 General Industry is designed to familiarize workers with OSHA Standards as well as safety and health hazards common to the workplace. This training is designed to be interactive with a goal to educate workers on identifying, avoiding, controlling, and preventing job site hazards.

This course will present critical regulatory updates from the New Jersey Lead and Copper Rule. This course will also present financing options for lead service line replacement, including the State Revolving Fund (SRF), private funding, grants, and innovative local models. Case studies will showcase successful LSLR projects, providing practical insights for water utilities and municipalities.

Oct 6, 2026: Making it Make Sense: Buried Water & Wastewater Infrastructure Evaluation, Optimization & Rehabilitation - 04-072601-30 (Atlantic City)

Descriptions
In the first of three technical modules, focal points will be evaluation of drinking water distribution and transmission mains, with a similar review for sanitary sewage collections and conveyance mains.
In the second module, workshop attendees will take a deep-dive into potential optimization techniques for distributed water quality - with an emphasis on maximizing service life of water mains and minimizing the classic nuisance aesthetic (taste and odor, discoloration) concerns of distributed water quality. A similar review will be given for minimizing corrosion and sewer gases in sewage collections systems.
Finally, the third module will give a survey of physical techniques and other industry best practices for rehabilitating buried water and sewer mains. The focus here will be practical and logistical, including timelines and construction costs.
